Career path

Bookkeeper → chief accountant / financial control

01

An accountant records money legally. Deadlines and tax changes are the main stress; “about” does not work in this job.

02

Flexa: median offer to an accountant ~6.8M UZS/month (Jan–Jul 2026), most common ~5M. Official finance ~19.1M is banks/insurance, not a line accountant.

03

Entry: 1C + Excel + tax updates. IFRS/ACCA is a foreign-reporting door, not required for a local LLC.

What the books are — and are not

An accountant keeps documents, the bank, stock, payroll, and tax inside the law and the deadline. They are not an auditor (outside inspection), not a CFO (strategy), not a cashier (only paying out). In a small LLC everything sits on one desk; in a large one you own a slice (bank, payroll, VAT).

Daily language in Uzbekistan: 1C, e-invoices, my.soliq, bank-client. “We keep it in Excel” still happens — ads ask for 1C.

A fit if you are precise, can stand repetition, and are not late. A poor fit if you say “we’ll fix it later” and miss month-close.

IFRS, ACCA, remote

IFRS/ACCA/CIMA open foreign reporting, an audit network, or an investment team. The local 1C+tax path is different — do not mix them and say “I get 19M too.” Remote outsource: NDA, signing rights, tax residency — with a lawyer. Relocation is that country’s register, not a how-to here.

Demand and myths

Legal entities are not disappearing — nor are the books. Risks: deadlines, eyes, law changes, signature pressure. Myths: “19M is mine”; “AI will file”; “ACCA means I skip 1C.”

How the work usually goes

  1. 01

    Documents and entries

  2. 02

    A tax or filing deadline

  3. 03

    Month-close: balances, acts, reserves

Where the work happens

  • In-house accounting
  • Outsourcing / 1C franchise

Roadmap

  1. 01

    Foundation: debit/credit and a document

University, college, or a short course. Understand that every posting has a source document.

  2. 02

    1C practice

A training base or a stint. A cert helps; “I clicked the button” is not enough.

  3. 03

    First slice

Bank or payroll. Live through one month-close.

  4. 04

    Widen

VAT, fixed assets, or outsource. Chief accountant is signature and people — later.

Sources and method
  • Flexa: accountant ad median ~6.8M, mode ~5M (Jan–Jul 2026)
  • Finance-sector ~19.1M is not a line-accountant wage
  • Figures draw on 2026 sources: Uzbekistan National Statistics Committee (official sector averages, Q1/H1 2026), Flexa and hh.uz vacancy medians, and public IT Park / product-team guides. Not a guarantee — contract type, city, tax, and level change the range. Compare live vacancies yourself.

The Uzbekistan market

Every legal entity needs books — demand is stable, not an “IT-style boom.” Outsourcing shops, visiting accountants, retail chains, plants, IT Park residents (their own FX and tax).

Ads: hh.uz, Telegram, referrals. Language: statute in Uzbek/Russian, 1C UI in Russian, sometimes reports in English. Region: more staff seats in the capital; a “do everything” desk in the regions.

First job

  • 1C basics or a training database
  • Resume: book type (trade, production, services)
  • Targeted applications on hh.uz / Telegram

Who it fits

Common mistakes

  • Reading 19.1M as your wage
  • Posting in 1C without a source document
  • Pasting the password into a group chat
  • Trusting an AI return without a signature
  • Applying to chief-accountant ads with no experience

Where AI helps

Where AI helps

  • A draft note and table

Human responsibility remains

  • Signing the e-file and tax responsibility
  • Checking the original document
