Architect

An architect designs space people live, work, or gather in: sketch, drawing, specification, the permit chain, then site supervision. The job is not “make the 3D pretty” — it is the fire route, light, agreement with structure, the budget, and a sheet a contractor can build from.

In Uzbekistan that is often housing, commercial work, a full interior cycle, or a firm tied to a public/object tender. Urbanism, landscape, and monument restoration sit nearby with different programs and liability. Do not mix the role with interior designer, structural engineer, or estimator: you defend the spatial idea; they own their layer.

The work fits people who can write a compromise, hear critique, and go to site. It is a poor fit if you only want Lumion renders and “creative freedom” — the client, the code, and money cut every project.

Survey, photos, a contractor question, “it is not in the project but already built.” Summer roofs, winter wet basements, a helmet and boots — not office clothes. Supervision: a spoken “fine” is not enough; you leave a written trail.

TAQI’s professional-development center advertised short 2026 courses on author’s supervision (around 72 hours) — that does not replace a degree, but it shows site language exists. Prices move; check the official page. This handbook is not a price list.

Tashkent University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (TAQI) is the main public landmark: bachelor 60730100 “Architecture (by type),” 60730800 monument restoration, with design/interior nearby. 2026/2027 admission quotas are published on the university site (including master’s rows for building architecture and urban/landscape). Other universities and foreign programs exist — diploma filters depend on the firm.

School gives models, drawings, critique. Revit is not always deep in the curriculum; many students add a student license or an outside course. A diploma does not make you the “stamping architect” — practice and internal rules do.

Interior tracks sometimes hire from a design faculty or a strong book. Large construction tenders often ask for the degree.

Short: visuals/BIM for a foreign client from Uzbekistan (contract, tax, copyright). Medium: European sheets through an outsource studio — English and units (mm vs ft).

Long: RIBA, NCARB, or that country’s own exam. That is years, a book, sometimes more school. Do not convert a US/EU salary at the FX rate. Relocation is visa law — not a how-to on this page.

Demand follows the construction cycle — not a permanent “IT growth” story. Risks: night deadlines, eyes, budget fights, visuals without a contract. Myths: “I know Revit, so I am an architect”; “AI will permit the house”; “the official 7M is my junior salary.” Reality: a book, the site, the firm’s process.
