MMFI Tashkent Branch Trains Specialists in Nuclear Energy Safety

TASHKENT, July 2 — The Tashkent branch of the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (MMFI) is participating in the training of specialists to ensure the safety of nuclear energy facilities. This was reported by the branch's press service.

In this regard, agreements have been reached between the Ministry of Emergency Situations Academy, the 'Uzatom' agency, the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences, and the MMFI Tashkent branch. The branch was visited by Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Nuriddin Qodirov and Head of the Emergency Situations Academy Muzaffarjon Mamasiddiqov.

They familiarized themselves with the university's laboratory facilities, educational and scientific infrastructure, and the practice of using high-tech equipment in the educational process. During the meeting, issues were discussed regarding the improvement of the system for training qualified personnel in the field of emergency protection.

In particular, attention was paid to the establishment of a dual education system in the fields of nuclear energy facility safety, prevention of technogenic emergencies, and radiation monitoring. According to the plan, theoretical training and laboratory exercises will be conducted at the MMFI Tashkent branch.

Practical exercises will be organized at nuclear facilities of the Institute of Nuclear Physics, including the VVER-SM research reactor and other scientific equipment. An important outcome of the meeting was the agreement to open a department of the Emergency Situations Academy at the MMFI Tashkent branch.

The parties expressed their readiness to expand cooperation in training a new generation of specialists who ensure the safety of nuclear energy utilization facilities.
