Construction of a New Medical Complex Worth 154 Billion Som in Orolboy

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the activities of the Scientific-Practical Medical Academy of Karakalpakstan. The newly established academy will serve as a retraining center for sector employees based on international standards and advanced technologies.

According to the presidential decree dated December 24, 2024, it is planned to transform medical institutions into a single innovative cluster that integrates science, education, and practice with the participation of the private sector. In this regard, a modern complex worth 154 billion som will be established on an area of 4.6 hectares, creating 80 new jobs.

The complex will enable the annual qualification enhancement of 3,000 doctors and 6,800 mid-level medical and pharmaceutical staff. Additionally, 100 clinical residents will be trained annually from the Orolboy region, and a 72-room hotel will operate for specialists arriving from remote areas.

To develop practical skills, 18 simulation rooms have been organized, where digital and simulation training has been implemented across more than 50 specialties. The complex is equipped with the “Edge Medical” surgical robot, unique in Central Asia.

It allows for conducting simulation training sessions as well as performing remote surgeries in real clinical conditions with high precision. The academy's activities are not limited to education: science, clinical practice, and digital technologies will be integrated.

Scientific research is planned in urgent areas such as the impact of the Orolboy ecosystem on public health, respiratory and oncological diseases, safe drinking water, nutrition, reproductive health, and ecological epidemiology. Furthermore, international training courses, joint scientific research, telemedicine, and the development of digital educational technologies are envisaged in collaboration with foreign centers such as the University of Pittsburgh in the USA and the University of Freiburg in Germany.
