According to the National Statistical Committee, at the beginning of the 2024/2025 academic year, there are 49,600 teaching staff in Uzbekistan's higher education institutions.

At the start of the 2024/2025 academic year, the number of professors and instructors (excluding part-timers) in Uzbekistan's higher education institutions stood at 49,600. This figure represents an increase of 17,500, or 54.5 percent, compared to the beginning of the 2020/2021 academic year.

Of the total teaching staff, 26,700 are men (53.8 percent) and 22,900 are women (46.2 percent). The regional distribution is as follows: Republic of Karakalpakstan — 2,700; Andijan Region — 3,100; Bukhara Region — 3,200; Jizzakh Region — 2,100; Kashkadarya Region — 2,200; Navoi Region — 1,100; Namangan Region — 2,300; Samarkand Region — 4,000; Surkhandarya Region — 2,000; Syrdarya Region — 700; Tashkent Region — 2,500; Fergana Region — 2,700; Khorezm Region — 2,100; Tashkent City — 18,900.
