Uzbekistan Discusses Creation of High-Precision Measurement Standards with Russia
Curated and fact-checked based on official notices from the Ministry of Higher Education and university press offices.

Tashkent, August 6 — Sputnik. Uzbekistan and Russia discussed opportunities for creating national high-precision measurement standards in the field of quantum metrology, as well as implementing joint scientific projects.
These issues were addressed during a meeting between Akmal Jumanazarov, Director of the Technical Regulation Agency, and Vladislav Khomich, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. A national standard is the most accurate reference sample of a unit of measurement in the country.
It serves as a basis for calibrating measuring instruments in laboratories and enterprises, linking results to a unified system, and ensuring international recognition. Quantum metrology employs quantum phenomena and fundamental physical constants for measuring time, mass, electrical voltage, and other quantities.
These methods ensure high measurement accuracy, stability, and consistent results across various countries. The parties also discussed enhancing the national standards base, improving specialist qualifications, implementing joint scientific-innovative projects, and supporting research.

According to previous data from the Agency, the number of national standards in Uzbekistan has reached 42. Technical assignments for expanding the base by another 19 standards have been prepared, and work has begun on creating seven standards and high-precision measuring instruments in collaboration with four technical universities.
