Students from the Olmaliq State Technical Institute won an international hackathon in Russia with a project aimed at improving the efficiency of a nuclear power plant.

TASHKENT, July 21 — The project by students of the Olmaliq State Technical Institute aimed at enhancing the efficiency of nuclear power plants won an international hackathon in Russia, as reported by the institute’s press service. Students studying in the field of mining and metallurgy participated in the international educational program "Summer University – 2026" held at the Siberian Federal University.

A total of 430 students from Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Brazil, Egypt, Chile, and other countries were involved in the program. Representatives from ODTI studied digital transformation in the mining and metallurgy sectors, including geographic information systems, digital modeling, production automation, artificial intelligence technologies, and simulation of technological processes.

Students also gained skills in the ProCAST and DEFORM-3D software. As part of the program, an international hackathon for innovative projects was held.

The team "O‘zAdro", composed of ODTI students, presented their ideas for improving the efficiency of the nuclear power plant being constructed in Uzbekistan. The team reached the finals and was recognized as the winner in the "Best Project" nomination by international experts.

Participants visited the RUSAL Krasnoyarsk aluminum plant, the "Krassvetmet" enterprise, and the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric station to learn about solutions in digital management, automation, environmental safety, and energy efficiency. A memorandum was signed between the Olmaliq branch of MISiS and the Russian corporation "Sifra."
