Qonliko'l Teacher Wins 616 Million Som in 'Teacher of the Year' Contest

During President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Karakalpakstan, a meeting was held with Nigora Allambergenova, a teacher from the 2nd school of Qonliko'l. She announced that she had won the 'Teacher of the Year' contest and received 616 million som.

This was reported by the Ministry of Preschool and School Education. During the conversation, Nigora Allambergenova recalled a discussion from two years ago when she was earning 2000 dollars in a remote area.

The president noted that he wanted her income to reach 4000 dollars. The teacher addressed the president, saying, "Dear President, I can proudly say that as the winner of the 'Teacher of the Year' contest, I am receiving 50 thousand dollars." According to the Central Bank's exchange rate on September 19, 2026 (1 dollar — 11,839.59 som), 616 million som is approximately equal to 52 thousand dollars.

Across the republic, 208 teachers were declared winners, 17 of whom are from Karakalpakstan. Each winner receives 616 million som, which is 1400 times the base calculation amount.

More than 46 thousand educators participated in the contest. According to the Cabinet of Ministers' decision dated April 28, 2025, the 'Teacher of the Year' and 'Professional Skills Leader' contests will be held every two years starting in 2026.

Winners will be awarded cash prizes from funds allocated by the Minister of Preschool and School Education. According to the teacher, the building of the 1st school in Qonliko'l is in an emergency state and has been operating in the building of the district technical school since 2019.

By the president's order, this year a new modern building for 600 students has been completed for the school, and the district library also has its own building.
