Several Universities in Samarkand to Be Reorganized

Several universities in Samarkand will be reorganized. According to O‘zA, based on the presidential decree (PQ-209, 26.05.2026): the Samarkand State Institute of Architecture and Construction will be transformed into the Samarkand State Technical University; the Samarkand State University will absorb the Tashkent University of Information Technologies Samarkand branch; the Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute will incorporate the Samarkand State University Urgut branch, and a faculty of the Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute will be established based on this branch; and the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service will include the Tashkent State University of Economics Samarkand branch.

Where will students continue their studies? The presidential decree stipulates the following: students from the Samarkand State Institute of Architecture and Construction will study at the Samarkand State Technical University; students from the Tashkent University of Information Technologies Samarkand branch and the Samarkand State University Urgut branch will study at the Samarkand State University; students from the Pedagogy and Language Teaching faculty of the Samarkand State University Urgut branch will study at the Urgut faculty of the Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute; and students from the Tashkent State University of Economics Samarkand branch will continue their studies at the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service, receiving diplomas from these institutions in due course.

For students of the Business Management and Natural Sciences faculty of the Samarkand State University Urgut branch in the 2025/2026 academic year, the opportunity to study will be provided in the building of the Urgut faculty of the Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute until they complete their education.
